HIGHLIGHTS FROM TECHBBQ 2025: TWO DAYS OF INSPIRATION AND CONNECTION
We were thrilled to be part of TechBBQ, 2025 — two days filled with inspiring talks, new encounters, and a buzzing atmosphere that reminded us why the startup community is so special.
For us at the Global Startup Awards, it was not just about attending an event, but about celebrating partnerships, reconnecting with our community, and expanding our presence across the Nordic ecosystem.
Day One – August 27: A Toast to New Beginnings
Our TechBBQ journey began with a celebration close to our hearts. Together with TechSavvy, we hosted a partnership gathering to mark our collaboration for the upcoming edition of GSA Nordics.
The evening was warm, welcoming, and filled with familiar faces — and a few new ones too. Guests enjoyed free drinks, kindly sponsored by Skovlyst, while we raised a glass to collaboration, innovation, and the journey ahead. More than a party, it was a way to set the tone for the next GSA Nordics edition: community-driven, open, and full of energy.
Day Two – August 28: Insights and Inspiration
The second day was just as exciting, starting with the Nordic Africa Summit, organized by our good friend Charles Kinga.
Here, our CEO & Co-founder Kim Balle took the stage with a keynote speach, sharing what we’ve learned from GSA’s work across Africa. His talk spotlighted data-driven insights, emerging opportunities, and the incredible potential of the African startup ecosystem — a topic close to our mission of connecting entrepreneurs across borders.
But the day didn’t stop there. In collaboration with our partners at DROBE, we hosted a podcast recording with Malin Frithiofsson, one of our truly inspiring alumni. Malin’s story is a shining example of what the GSA journey can look like:
Winner of Ecosystem Hero of the Year (Nordics)
Advanced to the global stage, winning People’s Choice (Global, Edition 7)
Today CEO of Daya Ventures, the world’s first femtech venture studio dedicated to transforming women’s health through innovation
Malin summed up her experience saying:
“Your event was the best one I’ve ever been to.”
Wrapping up
Looking back, our two days at TechBBQ were more than just busy — they were energizing. We had the chance to exchange ideas, build new connections, and celebrate the milestones that make our community stronger.
Most importantly, we left with a renewed sense of purpose: to continue strengthening our presence in the Nordics and Africa, while showcasing the power of the GSA community to bring people together across regions, industries, and ideas.
