HEALTH TECH TAKES THE SPOTLIGHT AT VIENNAUP 2026

GSA is excited to attend ViennaUP, returning from 18–22 May 2026, with a renewed focus on health tech in Austria’s capital. As part of a broader ecosystem of interconnected events, ViennaUP spans dozens of independently hosted formats across Vienna’s innovation landscape, covering themes from impact investment and peace tech to diversity, scaling, and beyond.

Among this diversity, health pioneers will take centre stage through matchmaking formats, pitch sessions, conferences, and curated networking opportunities. The festival offers participants access to global industry leaders, early insights into emerging innovations, and the chance to explore the health technologies shaping the future of care, while building meaningful connections across the ecosystem.

VIENNA AS A EUROPEAN LIFE SCIENCES POWERHOUSE

Vienna continues to stand out as one of Europe’s leading life sciences hubs, built on a long tradition of research, innovation, and scientific excellence. The city hosts a strong concentration of pharmaceutical, biotech, medtech, and digital health companies, which contribute to both local and global healthcare advancement.

Today, 754 life sciences organisations employing 49,000 people are based in Vienna, including all twenty of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies. This ecosystem is supported by advanced laboratories, research institutions, and life sciences centres that play a key role in improving health outcomes worldwide.

Vienna’s healthcare system further reinforces its global position, with its University Hospital Vienna and the university hospitals of the Medical University of Vienna ranked 20th in the World’s Best Hospitals 2026 ranking by Newsweek and Statista.

Looking ahead, the upcoming Life Sciences Center Vienna is set to further strengthen this ecosystem, providing modern infrastructure for startups and research institutions developing AI-driven health innovations.
