VOI AND EBIKELABS UNITE TO REVOLUTIONIZE E-BIKE TECHNOLOGY

Cross-border R&D initiative aims to set new standards for rider comfort and sustainable micromobility through intelligent software innovation

eBikeLabs, the French innovator specializing in advanced motor control technology, has announced a strategic research and development partnership with Voi, a leading European micromobility operator. The collaboration will investigate how cutting-edge software can transform the e-bike experience, delivering superior rider comfort, consistent performance across conditions, and breakthrough energy efficiency for the future of urban transportation.

Aligning Innovation with Sustainability Goals

At the core of this partnership is a shared vision: to create micromobility solutions that are not only technologically advanced but also deeply aligned with environmental and user-experience priorities.

The R&D program will center on integrating eBikeLabs' proprietary eBikeOS platform—celebrated for its precision in assistance delivery, intelligent regenerative braking capabilities, and dynamic energy optimization—into Voi's comprehensive software infrastructure.

The collaborative effort has three primary objectives:

  • Elevate rider comfort and safety through smoother acceleration profiles, enhanced stability controls, and more intuitive handling characteristics

  • Maximize operational range and energy efficiency by deploying predictive algorithms and real-time assistance calibration tailored to riding conditions

  • Generate actionable data demonstrating how software-driven optimization can lower fleet operating costs while reducing environmental footprint

Building on Validated Research

This partnership draws directly from findings presented in eBikeLabs' recently published white paper, "Optimizing Fleet Performance with eBikeOS." The research demonstrates that intelligent motor management can deliver efficiency improvements exceeding 45% while simultaneously extending the lifespan of critical mechanical components.

By merging these established technological capabilities with Voi's battle-tested operational knowledge—gained from managing over 150,000 vehicles across a dozen European markets—the partnership will validate innovations under diverse, real-world deployment scenarios.

“Partnering with eBikeLabs allows us to explore how next-generation motor intelligence can make our e-bikes even more efficient and enjoyable to ride. Improving autonomy and ride comfort directly supports our sustainability and user-experience goals.”

Amit Sikka, Head of IoT and Vehicle Software, Voi

“Voi is a true pioneer in shared micromobility. This collaboration is an exciting opportunity to combine our software innovation with their deep operational insight to push the boundaries of performance, efficiency, and rider satisfaction, at scale.”

Maël Bosson, Founder, eBikeLabs

Charting the Path Forward

The research initiative will extend throughout 2026, with collaborative teams operating from both France and Sweden. Initial findings from field testing and computational modeling are scheduled for presentation in early 2026.

Both organizations view this R&D collaboration as a pivotal step toward creating smarter, more environmentally responsible fleet operations. Insights gained from the program will directly influence next-generation product development and shape future deployment strategies across the micromobility sector.

As cities worldwide continue prioritizing sustainable transportation alternatives, partnerships that combine technological innovation with operational excellence will prove essential in meeting the growing demand for reliable, efficient, and user-friendly mobility solutions.
